How to Adopt
Referral
When you contact us we will record your details on a referral form.
Your:
- name
- date of birth
- ethnicity
- address
- contact details.
We will record the reason why you contacted us, and what we did to help you with your enquiry.
This information is treated as confidential, and we will be keep it securely. If you don't make contact with us again, we will destroy the referral form after six months.
If you go further with your enquiry, the referral form is the starting point of the 'case record' that we will maintain for you. This will continue for as long as we are involved.
Information is stored in a case file, which will include information about you; medical reports; reference checks. as well as a record of all contacts and visits made by social workers and their assessment of your suitability to adopt.
If a placement is made we will keep information about the children placed with you. This complies with Adoption Agency Regulations, and with the Data Protection Act 1998.
