At Adoption Focus we have recently increased our capacity to deliver Theraplay training to our adopters. Eight members of our Social Work and Adoption Support teams, along with colleagues from Adoption in the Black Country completed an intensive four-day Theraplay training course delivered by the highly regarded Theraplay practitioner, Annie Kiermaier.

Theraplay is a child and family therapy for building and enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others and joyful engagement. It is based on the natural patterns of playful, healthy interaction between parent and child and is personal, physical and fun.

Adoption Focus Social Worker Corinna Bassett, who completed the course said:

“Following a really informative and enjoyable four days, Adoption Focus now has even more staff qualified to deliver Theraplay techniques. This will enable us to support our adopters in building positive attachment with their children and positively change their internal working models.”

"It's great that we're now able to share these simple, fun but highly effective techniques with more of our families."
