National Adoption Week 2018 is taking place from the 15th to the 21st of October. During the week, we will be joining with our friends and colleagues at First 4 Adoption and agencies across the country to help focus attention on adoption.

As ever, the campaign will aim to find homes for those children who so desperately need them. But the focus for 2018 will be on the adopter, highlighting the qualities and attributes that make a great adopter and the joys and challenges they face.

Current figures from the Adoption Register for England show that in the West Midlands region, children waiting to be adopted outnumber adopters by nearly four to one. National Adoption Week focuses on the need to address this imbalance and find adopters for these children.

We’ve lined up an extra Adoption Information Event to take place during the week. For the first time we’ll be holding a lunchtime drop-in event running from 12 – 2pm at our Marston Green office on Wednesday 17th October. Anyone who wants to find out more about adoption can call in at any time during the session to have a leisurely and informal chat over a cup of tea with a member of our adoption team. There’s no presentation, the focus is on providing attendees with exactly the information they need. No booking is required and you can find more details here.

You can follow National Adoption Week on social media throughout the week. Look out for the Twitter hash tags #NAW2018 and #SupportAdoption.

If you'd like more information about the issues raised during National Adoption Week and can’t make it along to our drop-in information event, please get in touch. We have lots of other information events lined up over the coming weeks, or you can email at [email protected] or telephone us on 0121 779 0891 any time with your queries.
