We're pleased to announce that one of the most popular and beneficial workshops we provide for our adopters has now been opened up to families who have adopted through other agencies.

Understanding Children's Behaviours (UCB) is a workshop specifically exploring why a child might be displaying certain behaviours. It offers adoptive parents the opportunity to share their experiences and together build their toolkit of strategies.

This one-day workshop provides parents with the chance to deepen their understanding of their child’s behaviours and strengthen their knowledge in areas such as attachment, a child’s view and parenting strategies.

We also explore developmental stages, inner working models, shame, regulation and other helpful strategies. Adoptive parents also have the opportunity to speak to each other in an open and safe space. Attendees will be provided with a detailed resource pack to take home.

Adoption Focus has been running this workshop for a number of years. As part of our Ofsted 'Outstanding' rated adoption support it is available at no cost to everyone who goes through the adoption process with us. We are now also able to accept delegates who have adopted through Local Authorities or other external agencies for a small fee.

Training sessions are due to take place in Birmingham later this month, in October and in December.

For more details please call us on 0121 779 0891 or email [email protected].

Feedback from attendees at previous UCB workshops

Great to learn that all other parents are having similar experiences; you're not alone.

The workshop was brilliant.

I could have listened all day.
