At Adoption Focus, we believe love, patience, commitment, and the motivation to care are the key qualities we see in great parents. Across the UK, disabled people are adopting children and creating loving, stable families. If you have good physical and mental health, and manage any disabilities effectively, we’d love to hear from you.
There is an urgent need for adopters of all ages and backgrounds, as there are currently thousands of children waiting for a permanent, secure home.
The children waiting come from many different backgrounds, and have faced real challenges early in life, including loss and instability. What they need most is someone who can offer security, empathy, and unconditional love. Your lived experience, resilience, and understanding could make you exactly the kind of parent these children need.
Adopting children as a disabled parent
We recognise that everyone’s situation is unique. If you have an existing health concern, we recommend you consider your adoption plans with your doctor and seek their advice on what to discuss with us.
We offer individualised support, practical advice, and flexibility throughout the adoption process. We have lots of experience of working with people who have physical disabilities, sensory impairments, long-term health conditions, and neurodiverse profiles. Our expert team will work with you to explore what’s possible and ensure you have the right support in place.
You won’t be alone. We’re here for life, supporting each step and long after adoption, whenever you need us. We offer tailored preparation and training, guidance, advocacy, and connection to other adopters.
If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a parent, we’d love to help you explore adoption and find how you could change a child’s life.
