Very many congratulations to the Vice-Chair of our adoption panel, Graham Pellew, who has received an OBE for his long career of services to children. Graham was presented with the honour in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Graham said of the award:

"I was both stunned and delighted to hear that I had been nominated for an OBE for services to children. I have enjoyed working with adoptive parents and children for so many years - it has been a real privilege to be part of so many families' lives and to witness the commitment adoptive parents have to parenting children who have usually had a very difficult start in life.

I have also experienced the dedication and skill of so many adoption social workers who have worked hard to support the children and their adoptive parents. I am proud to have played my part in helping children to thrive and develop."

Graham has been employed as an Adoption Manager since 1987 in a variety of Local Authority and Voluntary Adoption Agency (VAA) settings. He has been extremely active in a range of adoption related work, including the role of Deputy Chief Executive at the VAA Families for Children.

He also chairs the separate panel for the Triangle Project, the early permanence provider we have recently launched in partnership with St Francis' Children's Society.

It's wonderful that Graham's dedication has been recognised in this way and we're grateful and proud that he continues to provide Adoption Focus with his expertise.
