Monday 14th to Sunday 20th October is National Adoption Week 2019. During the week, we’ll be joining with our friends and colleagues at First 4 Adoption and agencies across the country to help bring issues around adoption to wider public attention.
As part of this year’s National Adoption Week, we’ve scheduled two additional information events – one in Birmingham from 12pm – 2pm on Wednesday 16th October and one in Milton Keynes on Saturday 19th, 10.30am – 12pm.
Each of these events is designed to provide you with all the information you need to consider adoption through early permanence or through conventional means.

This year’s National Adoption Week focuses particularly on those children who tend to wait the longest for adoptive families. These priority groups include children from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, children in sibling groups, older children and those with complex health needs or those that are disabled.
To help broadcast the key messages of National Adoption Week there will also be a link-up with The Guardian online with a series of articles set to be published, including pieces on:
• Myth busting
• Adoption in faith communities
• Adoption in BAME communities
• The importance of adoption support
• The characteristics needed to be an adopter
